Class Descriptions 

All Classes are available to book via our Register your Child Page. 

Baby GymBarnoldswick only

Baby gym is for children aged 6 – 15 months. We use music and themes and structured play to introduce movement, balance and coordination and the use of gross and fine motor skills. Our programmes provide opportunities for social interaction, physical development, learning, creativity and education and follow British Gymnastics principles of preschool coaching. Our team create a really positive experience for you and your child in this fun and friendly class. It’s also great way for parents and accompanying adults to make friends.

Adult assist class – 1 adult per child, two children per adult welcome.

Teeny TotsBarnoldswick and Gargrave

Teeny Tots for children aged 18 months - 3 years. We use music and themes and structured play to introduce movement, balance and coordination and the use of gross and fine motor skills. The next step on form Baby Gym, children are encouraged to explore and challenge the physical capabilities through activities such as climbing, swinging, jumping, rolling and more.  

Our programmes provide opportunities for social interaction, physical development, learning, creativity and education and follow British Gymnastics principles of preschool coaching. Our team create a positive experience for you and your child in this fun and friendly class. It’s also great way for parents and accompanying adults to make friends.

Adult assist class – 1 adult per child, two children per adult welcome.

Prep Gym - Barnoldswick and Gargrave

Prep Gym is for children 3 – 4 years. We use music and themes and structured play to introduce movement, balance and coordination and the use of gross and fine motor skills. Children participate independently, learning vital life skills before they transition to school. Our programmes provide opportunities for social interaction, physical development, learning, creativity and education and follow British Gymnastics principles of preschool coaching. We introduce forward rolls, backwards rolls, handstands and cartwheels among other traditional gymnastics skills.  Our team create a really positive experience for you and your child in this fun and friendly class. It’s also great way for parents and accompanying adults to make friends.

Independent Learning– 1 adult per child, two children per adult welcome. Adults are welcome to stay and watch or may leave.

Jumping Jacks – Barnoldswick only

Jumping Jacks is for school aged children, reception and above. This is a beginner gymnastics class where we teach the foundations of many of the gymnastics skills you will be familiar with eg forward roll, handstand, cartwheels etc. Our gym is colourful and offers a wide variety of equipment that you may expect to find in a gymnastics club. This includes bars, balance beams, trampolines, vault, ropes and more. We follow a club development progression and certification programme and we run achievement week twice per year for this. Children participate independently for this class and we do not permit spectators. Children will either progress when they have achieved level 3, or are ages 7-8 year or at the discretion and recommendation of the coach in charge.

Gym Mix – Gargrave only

Gym Mix is for school aged children, reception to 10 years.  This is a mixed ability gymnastics class where we teach the foundations of many of the gymnastics skills you will be familiar with eg forward roll, handstand, cartwheels etc as well as more advanced skills for more capable children. While Gragrave offers less variety in equipment than our permanent space, we still offer a wide ranging programme which includes bars, beams, mini trampolines and more. This class with follow the same club development progression and certification programme as other classes and we run achievement week twice per year for this. Children participate independently for this class, and we do not permit spectators.

Children who show potential for more may be offered an alternate programme to attend.

Advanced Jumping Jacks – Barnoldswick only

For children aged 7/8 and above or upon recommendation. In this class we help gymnasts develop their skills further, offering safe and technically correct progression to help them achieve more advanced gymnastics skills. Gymnastic can enjoy working on Bars, Balance Beam, Vault, Trampolines and much more to help them hone their skills and develop greater confidence in the sport they love. Children who show a real flair for the sport may be asked to attend a more advanced programme or begin a competitive pathway.

Cool Kids – Barnoldswick only

Cool kids is aimed at children aged 8 + above and caters for a wide range of abilities. Our coaching team will advise which is the best session for your child to attend based on their ability and previous experience. We have beginners and advanced gymnasts in these classes. Gymnasts will develop skills based on their own gymnastics journey and will be supported and guided by our coaches. Cool kids is a great way for children to make friends outside of skills and participate in a physical activity they really enjoy.

Trick Stars – Barnoldswick only

For Boys aged 7+ years. This is a fast paced class that includes gymnastics element along side parkour and ninja style skills and moves. This popular programme is for boys of all abilities and is a great way for children to make new friends and learn cool tricks, moved and stunts. Gymnasts will learn traditional skills and participate in level testing.

Invitation only programmes

Bright Stars – Barnoldswick only

Gymnasts who demonstrate commitment to the sport and who are advancing at a faster rate than their peers may be asked to join this group. This programme runs alongside development squad, however participation in competitions is not compulsory for attendance.

Independent participation – no spectators permitted

Junior Development Squad – Gargrave only

Gymnasts with a natural ability for the sport who are aged 4- 7 years may be asked to join this group. Development squad is for gymnasts on a competitive pathway. Attendance in an Advanced Jumping Jacks class alongside this class is a requirement of participation. This is a two hour programme.

Independent participation – no spectators permitted

Development Squad/Advanced Development Squad – Gargrave and Barnoldswick

 Gymnasts with a natural ability for the sport who are aged 7/8+ years may be asked to join this group. Development squad is for gymnasts on a competitive pathway. Attendance in an Advanced Jumping Jacks or other advanced class alongside this class is a requirement of participation. This is a two-hour programme.

Important Dates

  • Term dates: 11th September  - 27th October 2023 (7 weeks)
  • Register with British Gymnastics for annual insurance - September 11th onwards 

Spectators

Spectators are permitted for all pre-school programmes, but we do not permit spectators in our after school classes. This is for reasons of member safety combined with space restrictions. We appreciate your cooperation on this.

 Photography

We do take photos and videos of participants for use in advertising/social media. Please remind us if you’d prefer your child not appear in these.


Our Location

We are located in a permenant premises in Barnoldswick. We also deliver programmes at Gargrave Village Hall.

  • School Sports Festival, in association with Skipton Tennis Centre
We also deliver teacher CPD training to help support teachers who are teaching  gymnastics as part of their PE programme.
